Types of Errors and Warnings in Profiles and API Interaction

The connection between Swonkie and social networks relies on authorisations (tokens) and the stability of each platform’s API.

When communication failures occur, errors or warnings may appear linked to the connected profiles or while using features like scheduling, data collection, and others.

This article explains the different types of errors and warnings, what they mean, and what you can do to fix them.

Types of Error/Warning States

1. Preventive Warning

When does it happen?
Around 60 days after the last access update.

What does it mean?
Swonkie shows a warning that the connection may expire soon.

What to do?
Update the profile access directly on the platform to ensure the connection remains active and avoid interruptions.

💡 Even if the profile still works correctly, this warning helps prevent upcoming failures.

2. User Error

When does it happen?
The token failed on its last use.

What does it mean?
Access was revoked or expired, and the error requires user action to be fixed.

Common examples:

  • Expired token
  • Permissions removed on the social network

What to do?
You need to log in to Swonkie and update the profile connection with the correct permissions.

Technical Issues Not Related to the Profile

Besides errors or warnings linked to profile tokens, technical problems may also occur when communicating with social networks.

3. Social Network (API) Error

What is it?
The social network may be temporarily unavailable, under maintenance, or facing limitations.

How does it affect?
It may block publishing or data collection at a given time.

What to do?
Usually, no action is required for insights data collection. Our team is automatically notified and will retry syncing as soon as possible.

For publishing, try again when possible. If the error persists, try later.

4. Internal Application Error (Swonkie)

What is it?
A technical issue occurred while executing a request within Swonkie (e.g. trying to schedule a post or collect metrics that failed).

How does it affect?
The process was not completed successfully.

What to do?
If possible, try again. If the error continues, our team has already been notified and is investigating the case.

ℹ️ These errors do not appear as status on profiles but may show in logs or messages linked to a failed post or widget.
